Shangla woman killed for getting divorce

SHANGLA: A 22-year-old woman was shot dead allegedly by her uncle over getting divorce from her cousin and later refusing to marry again at Shumbar village here on Friday.

Chakesar police SHO Habib Shah Khan said that local people informed him about the murder and when he reached Shumbar village he found the woman lying in a pool of blood.

He said the body was taken to rural health centre, Chakesar, for autopsy.

He said the woman’s uncle, Akram, admitted in the first information report that he had killed the woman after getting suspicious of her character because she had been refusing to get married after she got divorce from her cousin a year ago.
The SHO said the woman had been living with her father and the accused uncle in the same house.

He said he recovered the gun used in the crime and had registered a case against the suspect.

The alleged killer would be produced before a local court on Saturday (today) for obtaining his physical remand.
